On this page we wish to compare the path of a particle in a Uniform Magnetic field with the particle with the same initial conditions in a field created by a wire with a constant current. We will not be considereing relativity concerns and will keep our time step small. We begin with a few pictures of path comparisons.
These last two images compare the paths where relativity concerns may not be able to be ignored. Since the gamma is so close to zero the acceleration is almost zero and the motion then is almost uniform motion.
Notice in the last path we were able to get the cyclic nature of the path to show up. You are encouraged to download the tool and to try different comparisons on your own. You can take into consideration relativity by changing the field_compf program by introducing the gamma as we did on the relativity pages.
